How I got scammed: For me, the beginning of this damn scam came from Facebook. The sender thought we were former classmates, that they shared my love of puppies and were interested in my career. The scammer was polite, asking how my day was going and sending me pictures of the food they were eating.

This conversation continued for months, evolving into something romantic, friendly or professional. For me, it was a friendship that lasted from January to April last year. During those four months, the scammer never once talked about money. Then, one day, he mentioned cryptocurrencies. He told me about a specific cryptocurrency app; theoretically, I could make a quick and easy profit with this app. He suggested I download the app. I was seduced. I withdrew money from my account to invest in the app. A week later, all my money was gone. I never got any of it back.

The scammer I encountered was different. A few weeks later, he contacted me again and told me the whole story. He revealed that he was not a wealthy British adult as he claimed, but a 27-year-old youth trapped in a scam in Myanmar. The scammers told me that they have targets and if they don''''t meet them, they will be slapped and deprived of food and drink. According to the scammers, these scams make millions of dollars. Many people there are deceived or lured by the promise of real jobs.

Multiple reports provided by the Global Anti-Fraud Organization (GAFA) confirm the scammers'''' claims.
