In some cases, scammers may admit to being scammers during the chat and may reveal information about their lives. In this article, we discuss some recommended next steps and warnings that may occur in this situation. If you encounter a scammer who admits their job is a scam, keep reading.

scam life
Your scammer may tell you that his/her life is miserable and that they were deceived into doing so. In many cases, this is probably true. Because scams are considered so shameful, scam companies in Dubai and Southeast Asia sometimes use fake job postings and salaries to lure unsuspecting people into becoming slaves of the scam industry. Often, they will use a recruiter who may be a current or former scammer to lie and recruit old friends or colleagues in order to receive a placement fee. However, GAFA also wants to make it clear that many scammers also work voluntarily and may be ashamed to admit that they got there of their own volition. They may have responded to a job ad and been disappointed upon arrival to learn it was a scam, or they may be perfectly happy with their current working conditions.

Because it can be difficult to discern the truth from scammers online, GAFA advises anyone who encounters a scammer to be careful and not to let their guard down, even if the scammer admits who they are.

native
Liars may confess for any number of unknown reasons. However, it''s important to understand that scammers live in a different world with different moral standards. Many con slaves are in such a dark place that they are willing to do anything to get out. This may include confessing to you in order to gain favors or money from you. To achieve this, it can be demagoguery. They would tell true stories about how disturbing their lives were to elicit sympathy from the other person.

Here are three common native s scammers use after admitting:

1: "I can help you get your money back." This is one of the most common s used to manipulate victims who have already seen through the scammer. They often portray themselves as sympathetic to your situation and imply that they know of some kind of operational loophole that could get your money back. While there are some stories of scammers returning some money to their victims, this is the exception rather than the rule. Most scammers use this to get more money from their victims. Be aware that if they ask you to deposit funds before withdrawing money, it could be another scam.
2: "Please send me money to rescue me from this terrible situation." In this case, the scammer will describe the poor working conditions they are in. They may tell you that they were deceived and unable to return home for several years, suffered torture and/or inhumane treatment, and ask you for money to rescue them. Be aware that the debt the scammer currently has to pay may be as high as around $52,000. Any money paid to "rescue" scammers will go to the bosses, further supporting the scam industry and leading to more victims. Scammers may say they will repay the money in the future, but speaking from GAFA''s years of experience, most rescued swindlers will not repay their debts to the person who rescued them once they return home. Anyone who pays money to a fraudulent business is supporting a crime.
3: "I love you, please help me fake accounts and pay these fees." In this case, the scammer will try to maintain a long-term relationship with the victim in order to open social media accounts, help with the scam, and pay bills, etc. form to get help. Please note that participating in this type of behavior is assisting a crime and if an investigation is conducted, the IP address and phone number can be traced back to the user. This means that if you a social media account for a scammer, you could be considered an accomplice to the scam. Often, the scammer has extensive skills at manipulating the victim into risking his or her life for love without sharing any personal details about his (the scammer''s) real life, their face, or they are actually from. They often do this by telling true stories about the horrors they experienced at the scam company and promising future marriages.

Even after the scammer admits that the scam is a romance, he may still be using the relationship to try to manipulate the victim into continuing to provide them with additional favors.

GAFA''s advice
So what should you do if a scammer confesses to you?

First, be aware that a lot of what scammers say about their working conditions may be true. Some scammers are in such bad situations that they can''t get out of it. However, because they are desperate to leave, they may take advantage of your compassion to unethically manipulate you into committing illegal acts or participating in scams. It is important to understand that although many scammers may act as if they want to establish a romantic relationship with you, they are often in a situation it is almost impossible to establish a romantic relationship. They only pretend to care in order to find a co-conspirator for their scamming efforts, or to get some intimate photos of their female victims.

If the scammer confesses to you and you feel comfortable with it, we recommend that you hand it over to GAFA for an assessment by someone experienced in the industry. Depending on the circumstances, GAFA may be able to assist. We also recommend establishing ethical boundaries with scammers if you don''t want to turn them over to GAFA. No matter how much you want to help them, never give money to a scammer. Don’t help scammers fake accounts or become an accomplice. Again, note that assisting a scammer is an accessory to a crime.
