The "fish killing scam" is a telecommunications fraud. The scammers go to the second-hand goods trading platform to find victims, trick buyers into contacting privately, and repeatedly deceive buyers to pay. There is a problem with the first payment, and various excuses are used to induce the victim to pay again. The entire transaction process seems to be non-existent, but the victim loses real money.

The process of deceiving the victim is called "killing fish". The scammer is called "fisherman". Finally, the person who provides the victim with a false link is called "captain".

Killing fish also refers to "credit card cash withdrawal and loan fraud". The scammers advertise online that they can increase credit card limits or improve credit scores.
